RULES

THE RULES SO FAR

ALL COMPETITORS MUST BE BELAY QUALIFIED AT VERTICAL ENDEAVORS!

TEAMS: Will consist of two climbers. There are no “solo” climbers, or events. Team members must be able to belay each other. No outside assistance or cheerleaders will be allowed to belay. Teams should decide on an interesting team name. If not, a very bland team name will be assigned by VE and it’s staff. Teams for the 10 Hour event MUST consist of the same two team members for the whole event, no tap-ins or subs.

SCORING: Each team will keep track of its climbed routes and laps, via the honor system. Scores will be submitted at various times throughout the day.  To receive points, climbers MUST SEND every route with no fall or takes. If you put weight on the rope for any reason, you must be lowered to the ground immediately. Projecting is not the name of the game for this competition. If you or a teammate are found clogging a route(s) by projecting, you will be asked to stop and that route will be off limits for the rest of the competition. Team members do not have to climb the same routes, but each competitor will only get points for routes that they climb. Individual scores will be tallied as a team total.

POINTS: Points will vary for each route, depending on grade difficulty and length. The higher the grade, the more points available (a grade of 5.10 will yield a higher score than a 5.6). Climbers will also get bonus points for leading routes, vs top roping them (when both options are available). Top rope-only routes and lead-only routes will be scored accordingly based on length and location.

LAPS: Climbers are permitted up to three laps on a route, but only if you do them without major rests in between. If a rest is needed or required between laps, the next team waiting is permitted to jump ahead of you if one is present.

LINES: Please be respectful of all climbers in the facility. If a route is occupied by a team, wait for them to finish their climbs. You can stretch, gear up and even take a bit of a rest but you must physically be in the line for the route. You may not make any route “Reservations”! This a first come, first climb style comp.

WINNERS: There will be a podium placement for the top three Teams in each category; Recreational, Intermediate and Advanced. Placements will be determined by total points accumulated by both team members.

There will also be an award given to the team in each category that completes the most mileage through out the competition.

CHEATING: Staff will be on the floor throughout the competition. If we suspect anyone of cheating (or get reports of cheating from other competitors)Vertical Endeavors reserves the right to disqualify teams. Disqualified teams will not be considered for awards and will not be allowed to continue in the competition. Please don’t sour everyone else’s good time for personal benefit, we are all here to challenge ourselves in honesty.

SPECTATORS: Spectators are welcome, but spectators cannot belay any climbers participating in the 10 for 10 Competition.
