Our Favorite Things About… Vertical Endeavors

With four facilities in the Twin Cities Metro, it can be hard to choose where to climb. We thought it would be fun to come up with a list of our favorite things about each facility!

VE Twin Cities Bouldering

Size, this gym is huge, combined with a higher density route spread, you have so many options for climbs. Routes are set weekly so there is always something new and exciting to climb, with some resets totaling 50+ new climbs in a single day.

The route style spread feels awesome as well. No matter the grade or style, you have plenty to choose from. Options for every grade from V0 to V10+! There is a good ratio of new school comp style boulders to old school plastic pulling. Whether you are training for the outdoors or doing the latest 360 into a double clutch, there are plenty in both styles to challenge and keep you engaged!

Our favorite section? It’s a toss up between the arch and sector 6. The arch features low angles to roof climbing. The walls and features lend themselves to some very creative and fun route setting. Sector 6 contains some of the steepest walls in the twin cities. A long corridor of challenging, pumpy, power endurance focused routes. Not only do you need power but you have to have the stamina to finish!

Tension Board 1, if you are serious about training you know the name. This all wood training board is hard. The only TB1 in the area, for those looking to buckle down and get vice grip fingers and build a ridiculous amount of body tension.

VE Bloomington

The biggest rope gym in Minnesota, not only in terms of height but square footage of walls as well! Here you will find walls towering 65 feet. No matter your experience there is something for you. Beginners and solo climbers have 27 auto belays to choose from. Have some experience but wanting to take it further? Intermediate to elite climbers have a wide arrange of slab walls to roofs, lead & roof, and climbs up to 5.13+ to train on.

VE Saint Paul

Can’t go wrong with a classic. This is where it all started. The original Vertical Endeavors facility.

Our favorite part? B2. This classic bouldering wall is infamous. It’s simple, a wall that goes from 60 degrees overhung to vertical. Seeing B2 is like walking through a portal to the past. An extremely high density of climbs, taped climbs not monochromatic, & powerful old school style climbs. No parkour here, just grabbing hard and trying hard. Seems like bouldering walls are getting taller and taller, the climbs getting longer and longer. It’s refreshing to climb on stacked boulders that truly hit your limit.

Another favorite from our list is the cracks. Looking to up your crack game outside? Try the crack circuit, a handful of cracks that will test your crack climbing abilities. The prize, a small finger crack that has been called 5.12d by more than one talented crack climber.

VE Minneapolis

VE Minneapolis has one of our favorite lead walls ever. Tucked away upstairs is a section of wall that is so perfect. The 45 degree overhanging lead wall & the mini roof section just to the right. Perfect for getting pumped and trying hard.

Another favorite? The wave wall. This climb has hosted many competition finals. The wall’s overhang builds in intensity as you get higher and higher. Upping the pump and excitement. A lot of cool moments on this wall.

Climbing is dangerous, it involves inherent and other risks and cannot be eliminated. The information presented here does not describe all of the risks associated with climbing and is not intended to replace or supersede expert instruction and training.
